Some new digital designs

Hello everybody - hope your spring has been beautiful, and you are all ready for summertime. I've been working on some digital designs lately - different from most of my art, but they are fun and always interesting to create. I'd love to hear what you think of these, and would love to hear about any experiences you have had in making them too. Talk to you soon! xo

These were created on wrapped canvas, with acrylic paints, torn papers, paper lace, copper flecks, gel medium, color photograph, and cardboard. They are both for sale right now in my Etsy shop ~ more to come...I think springtime has definitely become my "creating" and "inspirational" time =) Let's hear it for the springtime muse!!!

Some New Mixed Media Pieces

I listed these for sale today in my Etsy shop. It has been so helpful - spiritually and emotionally - to get out the paints and canvas, all those papers and little embellishments and work with them again. Art is definitely my therapy of choice =)
I have another mixed media piece, and a painting that I am working on as well ... as soon as they're complete I'll post them here.
Hope everyone in BlogLand is well ... Hugs, Peggi

Spring Things

Hello everybody! I hope you are all doing well ~ are you getting ready for springtime? I sure can't wait ... the temperatures here (Illinois) have been slowly creeping up and a lot of the fields are getting greener every day...I actually saw my first cardinal yesterday - so lovely!
I have been working on a couple of new blogs - nothing much to see as of yet; but I am going to have several up and running to cover different interests (one for altered photography, one for my items on Etsy, and then one where I discuss the different techniques I use when doing mixed media and digital collage...so bear with me - they'll be ready soon =)
Drop a line if you get the chance =) Big springtime hugs to all! xoxo

Theme Thursday - Vintage Valentine
Here is my submission to Theme Thursday's challenge this week, Vintage Valentine. Vintage image of little girl is courtesy of Outsider Artists.Jesse James Farm
One of my favorite parts of our recent trip was our visit to the James Farm - James - Jesse James =) It was on the last day as we entered Missouri, right outside of Kansas City. Ever since I was ten years old and watched the movie "Jesse James" starring Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda I have been intrigued by the James lore, so I was delightfully surprised when everyone in the car said, "Let's go there!" So cool ... anyway, we got there about 15 minutes before closing time and our handsome young guide (who looked an awful lot like Jesse in his younger days) was kind enough to take us on a lengthy tour of the house, answered a lot of questions, and allowed me to take some photos (only of the outside of the James home and the land surrounding it). The interior of the house is interesting and also rather sad when you think about some of the things that happened there). Overall, it was a great experience - I got a lot of pics (which I will post shortly) and I was glad to see that out of respect to the James family descendents the farm is a quiet and peaceful place to visit and walk.

Some more Arizona photos

Here's a couple of photos taken during our much-too-short time in Arizona. The first is a quaint little house in Bisbee - I really like that gargoyle - every house should have one, I believe =)
The second group is of the hotel we stayed at while in Phoenix. The Hilton Pointe at Squaw Peak is one of the most lovely places I've ever stayed. Very relaxed, with an awesome waterpark (yes, people were swimming - it was "perfect for swimming" type weather) and lots of lush green plants and beautiful flowers. If you are ever looking for the perfect place to stay in the Valley of the Sun then IMHO you gotta try this place, baby!!
The last group is from Flagstaff - just a few hours away from Phoenix and all the swimmers, were people sledding down hills and lots of the gorgeous white stuff. Arizona is my favorite place in the whole world (of course I haven't been to France yet LOL) - I can't wait to go back this spring =) Hope you enjoy the pics! xxoo

A Day in Bisbee

Those of you who know me and my blog know that I love Bisbee, Arizona - and I love to blog about Bisbee. Here is a link to an awesome treasure trove of information on Bisbee and its intriguing history. The people that live there are some of the nicest you will ever happen to meet - artists, photographers, authors, shopkeepers, actors, and - of course - a fantastic bunch of hippies too =)
I took a lot of pics in Bisbee the other day, so this is just a small sample of what I will be posting here for you. If you ever venture that way be sure and stop by the Old Bisbee Repertory Theatre, enjoy a visit to the Twist and the Tang Galleries, and grab a coffee at the Bisbee Coffee Company and dinner at The Bisbee Grille or the Cafe Rocha - you'll be glad you did =) Hugs, Peggi

Vacation Pics

Whew! Just got back this evening from a week long adventure to the Southwest...and I have got 300+ pics to share! This first batch tonight will be kind of small due to the fact that I'm pretty darn tired and should probably get some sleep; however, I will most definitely be posting a lot of new images over the next few weeks - what fun!!!
These three pics are from the second and third days of our journey - the sunset photo is near Deming, NM on I-10 as we were getting ready to enter AZ. I was so excited to be visiting AZ that I took this out of the car window so we didn't have to stop - thankfully it turned out okay. The other one is of native plants taken at the top of the Mule Mountain Pass near Bisbee, AZ; and the last photo, of the red berries was taken in a Bisbee alleyway (I totally undeniably LOVE Bisbee alleys!)
Hope everyone is having a happy New Year and that you enjoy these pics...more to come soon! Big hugs, Peggi

A couple more photos...

Well, the days are very quickly passing by now - it's hard to believe tomorrow is already Christmas Eve day. We haven't had any more snow, in fact it is only a memory now, all melted away. Lots of wind and icy rain, but that's it...ah well... So here are some more recent house photos ... the third photo down has one of my most special items in it. My friend Keith, of Gardens of the Inner Eye was kind enough to send me a print of one of his lovely photos. It is so beautiful, and I really need to get a better frame for it - silver, I'm thinking - but there it stands, in the piano room on the table beside my favorite lamp, miniscule Mata Ortiz pot and part of my doll collection. Thank you again, Keith =) !!!
The second photo is my newest splurge - a quilt I've been wanting for quite some time now...I also purchased the matching shams, so when I get back from AZ next week I'm going to be doing a lot of much needed decorating (getting something new like the quilt always inspires me to do lots of cleaning and organizing, and decorating, of course =)
I hope you are all enjoying a warm (inside, at least) and safe and happy holiday season thus far...and I wish for you all the best things that God has in store for you this Christmas. Much love, Peggi xoxo

A Few More Christmas Photos

Here are a couple more pics - I am not sure how well it will show up, but the photo of the window was taken looking outside onto some snow ... it was so pretty, and of course the photo doesn't do it justice...I am just hoping we see some more white stuff for Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed =)

Christmas House Pics

Ah, Christmas - I love you!!! And I love decorating for you...and baking...and wrapping presents...and that happiness that seems to fill everyone's hearts this time of year...truly, isn't it the best?
I took these pics this week...we have had snow and ice off and on everyday, and that is supposed to be continuing over the next few days. Which is really okay with me because I love being in the house with the Christmas tunes playing, the fireplace lit, and lots of baking going on - I just feel for those people that are out driving and walking in the stuff...I went to Michael's in the late afternoon the other day and there was a sheet of ice completely covering the parking lot...I almost slipped and fell at least twice before making it to the door of the store. Living in Arizona most of my life I really do have to get used to living in a place that actually has snow in the winter!
The cookies in the photo are chocolate chip - they had a very short life span as my son and his hungry friends devoured them in minutes =)
Hope everybody is doing well and enjoying this wonderful time of year! Hugs, Peggi

Think Monday Think ATC - Red
There is something about the Christmas season that just makes me fall in love with the color red - when I saw that it was this week's theme at Think Monday Think ATC I knew I had to take part =)Hope you are wrapping your presents with beautiful red bows, lighting hundreds of brightly burning red and green candles, putting on warm red sweaters and socks, and making Christmas cookies - covered with little red sprinkles...
Hugs, Peggi
